Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Public Health

1. Philosophy

The Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree program in Public Health (PH) at Sirindhorn College of Public, Yala is designed with an emphasis on mastering the skills in individual specialty areas within public health. The M.Sc program prepares students for practice by instructing them in the core disciplines of public health and exposing them to practice settings where these disciplines are applied. In addition, the M.Sc program is a practice centered curriculum designed to prepare students for the health problems of the 21st century by focusing on the core functions of public health – health status assessment, environmental health quality assurance, occupational health, social and behavior sciences in understanding the causality, consequences public health, behavior change strategies, prevention and control of diseases, health administration and management as well as applied biostatistics and research.

2. Objectives

The graduates will be able to:

1. Demonstrate and develop skills in using health and related information systems,

2. Integrate related knowledge within the national and international context in order to develop public health projects which can be implemented at any community level

3. Be an agent for change and an advocate in establishing collaboration for improvement of public health situations,

4. Analyze current public health issues which may influence future public health research,

5. Use systematically appraise and synthesize public health research in delivering health care services or improving health research projects.
